Volunteers from across Yates County came together on Sunday for the annual Celebrate Service… Celebrate Yates (CSCY) initiative, continuing a tradition of community pride, partnership, and hands-on impact.

Co-sponsored by Keuka College and the Yates County Chamber of Commerce, this year’s event brought together 157 volunteers from the College and the broader community. Participants worked at 19 sites throughout the county, including the Dundee Library, Camp Koinonia in Middlesex, the Penn Yan Community Garden, and the Yates County History Center.  Projects ranged from outdoor cleanup and beautification to assisting local organizations with seasonal needs.

“This event each year reminds me of what makes our community so special,” said Yates County Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Jessica Bacher. “It is so rewarding to see our businesses, volunteers, and partners come together in such a meaningful way.”

For many, CSCY has become a cherished annual tradition.

“As a family, we have been involved with CSCY for a few years; it is always one of our favorite days to give back to our county,” said Dundee resident Mary Cornish. “We enjoy meeting new people, and the weather was perfect for outdoor cleanup this year.”

The event highlights the strong connection between Keuka College and the surrounding community. Before heading off to work sites, volunteers gather at Keuka College for a motivational send-off. Students, faculty, staff, and residents then work side by side, building relationships while making a tangible difference.

“It’s wonderful to see our students and local community members come together each year across Yates County, working side by side, building connections, and making a difference together,” said Keuka College Director of Field Period® Program Kathy Waye, a longtime coordinator of the event.

Organizers say the continued participation and enthusiasm surrounding Celebrate Service… Celebrate Yates demonstrate the power of collaboration and the deep sense of community that defines Yates County.

Next year’s Celebrate Service… Celebrate Yates is scheduled for Sunday, April 25, with organizers again inviting volunteers of all ages to take part in a day dedicated to service, connection, and community impact.
