Student Employee of the Year

Since 1995, Keuka College has co-sponsored the Student Employee of the Year (SEOTY) with the Northeast Association of Student Employment Administrators (NEASEA) and the National Student Employment Association (NSEA). The College has been a member of both of these organizations since the mid-1990’s.

Each February, work-study supervisors nominate students who are described as “cream of the crop” student employees. On-campus readers/judges are chosen to rank the nominees taking into account such qualities as reliability, initiative, quality of work, disposition, and contribution to employer.

During National Student Employment Week, a luncheon sponsored by President Burke and the Center for Experiential Learning is held to honor all of the nominees, the nominators, and readers/judges. At this luncheon the Student Employee of the Year is announced and their nomination moves on to district, regional, and national review.  Since the inception of this recognition, Keuka has honored approximately eight to ten student employees each year.

Keuka’s Student Employee of the Year was also recognized as the New York State Student Employee of the Year in 2001, 2004, 2006, 2007, and 2009. Starting in 2009, the award is now referred to as the NEASEA District 5 Award.
