Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to be athletic in order to participate?

No.

One of the first steps you’ll take when planning a group is to complete the needs assessment—a document that helps us determine your group’s athletic ability.

We’ll work to create a program for you based on this assessment that will accommodate the athletic abilities of everyone within your group.

Can you accommodate a group with a wide range of ages and physical ability?

Yes. Because you’ll complete the needs assessment, we can custom-tailor a program to accommodate all ages and physical abilities.

Are your challenge course activities dangerous?

Safety is our highest priority. Although adventurous, our activities are inclusive for those of all physical abilities. Our equipment is inspected annually and all of our staff are trained in safety procedures. Additionally, we dedicate time to explaining safety precautions to the participants while they’re on the course.

What should we wear/bring?

We provide all necessary equipment needed to complete the program. All participants should dress weather-appropriate, with an extra layer in case it gets cold. All clothing should be loose and should be able to get dirty. All participants must wear closed-toe shoes or sneakers for safety reasons. During the winter you should bring hats, gloves, jackets, long underwear, etc.

What if it rains?

The majority of programs can be implemented in the rain, and we run our programs in all but severe weather, so participants should dress accordingly. In the event of lightning/thunder or other severe weather, we can agree to postpone the program on that day. For questionable forecasts, the lead facilitator for your program will make a decision by 6 am, the day of the program. In such cases, we will postpone the program to another day and your deposit will be applied to the new date.

What do I need to do to book a program? Is a deposit required?

In order to start the booking process you will need to fill out a Group Reservation Request Form. We require a 50% deposit for in order to reserve the date. Travel expenses are included for any program not on our campus and are an estimated cost. Once a deposit has been received, the date will be confirmed. Please note that we accept purchase orders.

What if some members of the group have already participated in a workshop?

Many groups make a habit of using TeamWorks! and come multiple times within a year and we take this into consideration during the creation of your program. Programs can implement new activities and introduce new concepts for all.

What type of credentials and training does your staff have?

All staff members are required to attend a rigorous six-day training program. They also spend time observing and working with experienced trainers and need to pass a comprehensive test before they are able to lead a group on their own.

Can I get a proposal to present to administrators to attain funding?

Yes. Please contact Molly McGuigan (315-279-5240).

How will this experience relate back to our program?

After reviewing your needs assessment and goals, we create a program that will specifically support you and your group. We use creative debriefing tools to help participants learn from their experience.

What can I tell my group members about TeamWorks!?

TeamWorks! is an opportunity to experience adventure in a safe and controlled environment. You are given the chance to challenge yourself and step out of your comfort zone.

Do you accommodate overnight programs?

Yes we do. Keuka College Conference Services can provide groups with overnight housing with access to the scenic environment surrounding Keuka Park.

When your facilitators are leading a group what is my role?

During the program we will take the lead in briefing and debriefing activities as well as managing safety. We look to you to address behavior problems among group group members. You are given the choice of either participating or observing. You can be as active as you would like.
