Majoring in Occupational Therapy
The Occupational Therapy Degree
Keuka College's occupational therapy (OT) program features a four-year undergraduate degree (B.S.) in occupational science followed by a one-year graduate degree (M.S.) in occupational therapy.
Visit our Occupational Therapy Blog for the latest news and information.
Keuka develops OT practitioners by providing classroom and experiential learning opportunities in the areas of professional development (working with clients/patients, other health care providers, and within school systems), direct service (providing evaluation and treatment techniques to a variety of clients/patients), indirect service (using written and oral communication skills), service leadership/management (becoming leaders and managers within OT delivery systems), and scholarly work (becoming lifelong learners in the OT field).
Admission Requirements
Meeting the admission requirements for Keuka College also meets the admission requirements for the OT program.
The requirements to become a practicing occupational therapist include graduating with a master's degree in OT, passing the national certification exam, and receiving a state license for clinical practice. Over the past three years, Keuka College's pass rate for the National Board of Certification for Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) exam for first-time test takers is 90%.
What Sets Keuka Apart?
- Students gain 140 hours of experience every year (freshman - senior) in OT clinics.
- A true five-year program with only one year of graduate studies.
- A chapter of Pi Theta Epsilon, the OT student national honor society.
- Students have the opportunity to experience cadaver labs during their anatomy course work.
- In order to enhance the experiential portion of the program, clinical lab sizes are maintained at 10 to 13 students.
