Gina Ferruzza ’14 made the most of her Field Period opportunity with a civil and environmental engineering firm, and received “training she can use wherever she goes.” Read more about her experiences here. >>>
I assisted an occupational therapist in an orphanage, worked one-on-one with the children, and participated in play-based therapy. I also assisted in teaching American Sign Language (ASL) to local pediatric teachers.
I taught ASL to an abandoned, deaf 3-year-old and cared for the children in the hospital.
Some of the skills I gained during this Field Period included: creating spreadsheets, creating/administering surveys for various departments and groups, scanning, data retrieval, and working with members of other departments to reach a common goal.
It was a great opportunity for me to conduct a Field Period with TeamWorks! I became more familiar with Microsoft Word and Excel, creating surveys on Class Climate, scanning/data retrieval, and so much more. Being computer savvy is just one of the many things that employers require of their employees, and having this opportunity puts me that much ahead of the competition.
